Acumen Fund invests in companies that deliver critical goods and services – water, health, housing, energy, and agriculture – at affordable prices to low-income people earning less than four dollars a day in India, Pakistan, and East Africa; we invest in leaders who are paving the way for new approaches to fighting poverty; and we invest in ideas that will give the world the knowledge and the understanding to create a world beyond poverty.
To help support our work investing in both leaders and ideas, we are looking for two committed, high-performing volunteers to join our Innovation and Fellows teams this summer. Both positions are unpaid, but offer transportation stipends to offset transit costs to and from the office.
The Innovation Volunteer will primarily focus on helping us develop content for the new class on Acumen Fund at the University of Michigan, piloting this fall. He/she may also conduct policy research for our engagement with various stakeholders in Washington DC and assist with internal operations for the office of the CEO. Our ideal candidate is a motivated, high-energy individual with excellent research and writing skills, some experience developing educational content, and basic knowledge of the legislative process on Capitol Hill. If you’re interested, please send a cover letter, resume, and one-page writing sample to Wei Wei Hsing at whsing AT acumenfund DOT org by midnight on Wednesday May 18.
The Fellows Volunteer will have the opportunity to work on Acumen Fund’s rapidly developing Global and Regional Fellows Programs as well as on Alumni programming. He/she will contribute to training the next generation of social sector leaders and social entrepreneurs by supporting curriculum design & administration, improving upon our existing marketing & recruitment strategy, and fostering greater connection between our community, our Fellows, and our Alumni. Specifically, the Fellows Volunteer will have the chance to plan Fellows events, develop an online social networking platform, create marketing materials, as well as help build the newly launched East Africa Fellows Program from the ground up. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the fields of social enterprise, education, and/or international development, and who is eager to gain access to one of the most prestigious training grounds for the world’s leading social changemakers. If you’re interested, the full description and application instructions can be found on this website. If you have any questions, please email Ramil Ibrahim at ribrahim AT acumenfund DOT org.
