Announcing the East Africa Fellows Class of 2014

Acumen is proud to announce the selection of our third cohort of East Africa Fellows. After a competitive selection process, we’ve chosen are a diverse group of 22 inspiring individuals who are fighting poverty and changing lives of people all over East Africa. Each Fellow is driving an innovative social change initiative addressing a variety of development issues, such as using mobile technology to support smallholder farmers, increasing access to financial services for Muslim women in Kenya, empowering urban refugees in Tanzania, and working with the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of South Sudan. Acumen Pakistan Signs MoU with Punjab Board of Investment & Trade

Lahore, Pakistan, 13 February, 2014: Acumen Pakistan and the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT) signed a $3.5 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Public-Private Partnership basis to alleviate poverty by providing critical goods and services to those at the bottom-of-the-pyramid. Acumen, a pioneering social impact investor, has identified sustainable solutions in the solar energy and water sectors, which is expected to generate employment opportunities as well. At +Acumen, our goal is to share tools that can help unleash the full potential of all the aspiring social change leaders in our community. Acumen is proud to announce the selection of our newest cohort of Pakistan Fellows, a diverse group of 19 inspiring individuals who are fighting poverty and changing lives of people all over Pakistan. Each Fellow is driving an innovative social change initiative addressing a variety of development issues, such as educating street children in the slums, building low-income housing in Lahore, developing the economy of Kashmir through tourism, and working in the government to empower marginalized communities in rural Balochistan.
