{"id":10551,"date":"2019-05-29T20:57:49","date_gmt":"2019-05-30T00:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acumenbw.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=10551"},"modified":"2025-05-13T13:30:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T17:30:22","slug":"cambiar-la-forma-de-formar-lideres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acumen.org\/es\/blog\/cambiar-la-forma-de-formar-lideres\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 necesitamos cambiar la manera de formar l\u00edderes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Una conversaci\u00f3n con David Smith, Director de Presidio Institute, en su camino como activista y sus puntos de vista sobre el &#8220;liderazgo intersectorial\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David ten\u00eda que estudiar para su examen de mitad de a\u00f1o de ingenier\u00eda civil, pero era la noche de las elecciones presidenciales de EE.UU y las votaciones estaban empatadas. David se qued\u00f3 despierto hasta altas horas de la madrugada siguiendo las noticias. No es necesario decir que no le fue bien en su examen al d\u00eda siguiente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuando le preguntaron a su profesor de ingenier\u00eda por qu\u00e9 hab\u00eda programado ese examen tan importante un d\u00eda despu\u00e9s de un evento pol\u00edtico de esa magnitud, el profesor jocosamente le dijo a David: &#8220;aqu\u00ed entrenamos a los mejores ingenieros&#8221; y que si David quer\u00eda involucrarse en pol\u00edtica, deber\u00eda ir al otro lado del campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta conversaci\u00f3n hizo que David pensara en el impacto que quer\u00eda tener en el mundo. \u00bfQuer\u00eda construir puentes y estructuras f\u00edsicas incre\u00edbles, o construir puentes que conectar\u00e1n personas? David termin\u00f3 estudiando ciencias pol\u00edticas y co-fundando una red de participaci\u00f3n c\u00edvica juvenil cuando a\u00fan era un estudiante de pregrado, luego de graduarse termin\u00f3 dirigiendo esta red. Su camino como movilizador c\u00edvico, estratega y l\u00edder es una muestra de su pensamiento sobre el liderazgo y de lo que se necesita para construir una comunidad diversa y comprometida.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28119\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28119\" style=\"width: 859px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28119\" src=\"https:\/\/acumen.org\/app\/uploads\/2024\/03\/fb-David-Smith-1024x535-580x303-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"859\" height=\"449\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-28119\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Smith, Presidio Institute.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LA NECESIDAD DE &#8220;LIDERAZGO INTERSECTORIAL&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En la actualidad, David Smith es el Director General de Presidio Institute, un instituto que ofrece programas de liderazgo y de coaching en el tema. Gracias a su experiencia David es un apasionado del &#8220;liderazgo intersectorial&#8221;, esta idea de que para resolver los problemas complejos de hoy en d\u00eda necesitamos poder unir a l\u00edderes de diferentes sectores: empresarial, sin \u00e1nimo de lucro, gobierno, academia, instituciones religiosas y m\u00e1s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, lograr que grupos de personas tan diversas trabajen de manera productiva es dif\u00edcil. David observa que &#8220;la gente es mejor se\u00f1alando a las personas, que se\u00f1alando el desaf\u00edo&#8221;. Por ejemplo, el sector p\u00fablico tiende a quejarse de que las empresas privadas est\u00e1n excesivamente impulsadas por los beneficios a expensas de la comunidad u otras consideraciones \u00e9ticas, mientras que las empresas privadas tienden a quejarse por la sobrerregulaci\u00f3n del gobierno.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La falta de &#8220;liderazgo intersectorial&#8221; est\u00e1 enraizada en tres elementos clave:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Primero, recordando la experiencia de David como estudiante universitario, nuestro sistema educativo est\u00e1 seccionado por departamentos o facultades. &#8220;Educamos a las personas de manera seccionada y luego nos preguntamos por qu\u00e9 intentan resolver problemas en solitario. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 no puede alguien ser un ingeniero civil que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 completamente involucrado en la movilizaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica? &#8220;, dice David. Si bien esto est\u00e1 cambiando en muchas instituciones, probablemente no est\u00e9 cambiando lo suficientemente r\u00e1pido.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En segundo lugar, nuestras instituciones tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n aisladas. Las instituciones a menudo se optimizan para tener \u00e9xito dentro de sus propios sectores. &#8220;Han descubierto c\u00f3mo trabajar dentro de su sistema y sus bases, pero \u00bfhay formas de poder crear cambios en la intersecci\u00f3n?&#8221;, pregunta.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En tercer lugar, que es m\u00e1s un resultado reforzado de los dos primeros puntos, es la continua erosi\u00f3n de la confianza dentro y entre las instituciones, los l\u00edderes y las comunidades. Existe una mentalidad de &#8220;nosotros vs ellos&#8221; que impregna gran parte de nuestro trabajo y la vida comunitaria en la actualidad. Esta falta de confianza es lo que fundamentalmente obstaculiza la colaboraci\u00f3n entre las comunidades.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En su coraz\u00f3n, el &#8220;liderazgo intersectorial&#8221; describe la necesidad de l\u00edderes que puedan construir puentes de confianza entre diversos grupos de personas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QU\u00c9 TIENE QUE CAMBIAR<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La buena noticia es que, al igual que nosotros como organizaci\u00f3n, David cree que esos l\u00edderes pueden venir de cualquier lugar, lo que brinda al mundo una gran oportunidad para un cambio positivo.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En primer lugar, debemos corregir una incomprensi\u00f3n fundamental de lo que significa &#8220;liderazgo&#8221;, y eso es probablemente lo principal que debemos cambiar. David ha observado que &#8220;cuando la mayor\u00eda de la gente dice &#8216;liderazgo&#8217; realmente quiere decir &#8216;direcci\u00f3n&#8217;. Dirigir o gestionar funcionan bien cuando hay l\u00edneas claras de autoridad. Sin embargo, cuando no est\u00e1s en ese sistema, que es la mayor\u00eda del mundo real, necesitas pensar de otra manera sobre c\u00f3mo ejercitas ese conjunto de habilidades. Un cambio de mentalidad clave es c\u00f3mo hacer que las personas lideren en un contexto en el que no tienen l\u00edneas claras de autoridad&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un segundo cambio, que es fundamental, es la voluntad de un l\u00edder para ser desafiado y quiz\u00e1s cambiarse a s\u00ed mismo. Esto requiere una gran autoconciencia, una apertura para escuchar a las personas diferentes a ti y una voluntad de encontrar formas de unirse. Como David dice:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;La verdad de una persona no es necesariamente correcta sobre la de otra, pero colectivamente puedes encontrar lo que significa ser miembro de una comunidad. Hay muchos matices de gris en la vida y solo se entienden cuando entras en ese tipo de conversaci\u00f3n en una postura de aprendizaje, en una postura de contribuci\u00f3n, y en una postura de propiedad conjunta y colaboraci\u00f3n, as\u00ed es como vas a ser capaz de lograr el cambio.
