Acumen in Pakistan: Addressing Basic Needs on a Large Scale

Acumen Pakistan is harnessing the power of entrepreneurship to help low-income Pakistanis out of poverty

Our Vision

Acumen was globally founded on the belief that while traditional charity and international aid often meet the immediate needs of the four billion people living on less than four dollars a day, alone they will not solve the problems of poverty, market-based approaches have the potential to be sustainable when charitable dollars run out, and such approaches also recognize that individuals seek dignity, not dependence, in their lives. Acumen is building a unique model for philanthropy that links economic donors to effective strategies that target the underlying problems of global poverty.

Investments

Rather than investing traditional capital, we invest philanthropic, or “patient,” capital that provides startups with the flexibility and security to grow their business and reach as many poor customers as possible.

Fellowships

The Acumen Fellows Program is an intensive leadership development program cultivating a pipeline of tomorrow’s change makers. Over the course of a year, Fellows remain in their jobs while participating in five in-person, multi-day immersive seminars and engaging in online content between seminars.
