    Brian Trelstad is the former Chief Investment Officer of Acumen.  He also drove Acumen’s work measuring social and financial return and is a founding executive committee member of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE).  Prior to Acumen, Brian was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in their New Jersey office.  He has co-founded and advised several early-stage technology companies and social enterprises and was the lead environmental staffer for President Clinton’s Corporation for National Service.  He is a graduate of Harvard College, Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and the University of California’s College of Environmental Design. Brian is a member of the 2010 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. He is also a Kauffman Fellow (Class 12) and was the first impact investor to participate in the fellowship program.

    Mr. Kweku Bedu-Addo is Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana and has over twenty years of experience in the areas of public policy, international development and Banking & Finance. In his early years, Mr. Bedu-Addo worked in the Policy Analysis Division of Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, and had a brief stint with The World Bank in Washington D.C in the Eastern Africa Department under The World Bank-Japan Joint Fellowship Program. He joined the private sector in 1998 as a Financial Analyst at General Leasing & Finance Company Ltd. and later joined Standard Chartered Bank in 2000. Mr. Bedu-Addo’s career at Standard Chartered Bank has spanned several roles including, Director and Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking, Zambia; Director at the Wholesale Bank Head Office in Singapore; and Managing Director in the Origination & Client Coverage Group of the Wholesale Bank with responsibility for West Africa. In 2007, he was awarded a prestigious Wholesale Bank Star Award. He served on the Board of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia plc from 2005 to 2007. He has been on the Board of   Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Ltd. since 2009 to date.  He is a member of the Board of Advisers of AISEC Ghana.  In June 2010, he was named as Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana, a 1000 Employee strong institution and one of the Standard Chartered Bank Group’s biggest businesses in Africa. He is a product of University of Ghana, Legon (1990) and Columbia University (1996).

    Peter Cain is a Managing Director at Ambac Assurance Corp. He has been head of Credit Risk Management since June, 2009. He oversees key decisions on the run-off of the firm’s credit portfolio, which totals over $250 billion. Ambac’s portfolio includes public finance, international, and structured finance positions. In 2001, he moved from London to Ambac’s New York office and took on a series of senior risk management positions, which included structured finance portfolio management, health care and project finance work-outs, and heading Public Finance Credit Risk Management. In 1995, Mr. Cain opened Ambac’s London office and built a business focused on public-private partnerships and project finance. Prior to 1995, he worked for MBIA in Paris and New York as an underwriter in transportation, not-for-profits and infrastructure. From 1985 to 1990, he worked as an analyst at Bond Investors Guaranty and Moody’s. He graduated from Babson College and holds an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

    Sadeesh Raghavan has worked and lived all over the world. He obtained his undergraduate degree at IIT Madras, then his MBA at UCLA USA, and has worked in the US, India, China, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and for the last 4 years has been based both in India and Singapore. He was Managing Director at Accenture where in his last role he ran their Products (Manufacturing & Distribution) practice across North and South Asia Pacific and then most recently all their India businesses. He has spent his career advising MNCs and the top Asian players on their market entry and growth programs and strategies revolving around the rapidly growing Asia Pacific market. He is very active in venture philanthropy and angel investing and sits on numerous boards including the Global Advisory Board and Investment Committee of Acumen Fund, a US based not for profit venture philanthropy fund and India Advisory Board of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network. He is member of the Indian Angel Network and Business Angel Network of South East Asia and also a member of the Ashoka Support Network.

    Zaffar A. Khan is Chairman, Acumen Pakistan and serves on several boards including the State Bank of Pakistan, Unilever Pakistan, Shell Pakistan, International Industries, and Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. Mr. Khan is a visiting Adjunct Faculty at Karachi’s leading business school – IBA. Mr. Khan has in the past served as President and CEO of Engro Chemical Pakistan, Chairman of PIA, Karachi Stock Exchange & Pakistan Telecommunications Co. During the early years of his career, Mr. Khan worked for 10 years for Exxon Chemical in Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States in their petrochemical business.

    C. Hunter Boll is a former managing director of Thomas H. Lee Partners, which was one of the largest private equity firms in the world. He joined the firm in 1986. In 2005, he co-founded Source Audio LLC, a start-up venture focused on providing consumers with next generation accessories for the musical instrument market. Mr. Boll is Chief Operating Officer for Source Audio LLC. From 1984 to 1986, Mr. Boll was with the Boston Consulting Group, a corporate strategy consulting firm. He previously served as an Assistant Vice President, Energy and Mineral Division of Chemical Bank. Mr. Boll received a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

    Jacqueline Novogratz

    Prior to Acumen Fund, Jacqueline founded and directed The Philanthropy Workshop and The Next Generation Leadership programs at the Rockefeller Foundation. She also co-founded Duterimbere, a micro-finance institution in Rwanda. She began her career in international banking with Chase Manhattan Bank. Jacqueline currently sits on the advisory boards of Sonen Capital and the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Initiative. She serves on the Aspen Institute Board of Trustees and the board of IDEO.org, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Social Innovation.

    Rob Stewart has been with The JBG Companies, a regional real estate investment and development firm since 1988. JBG is one of Washington’s larger real estate investment and development firms and currently manages over $4 billion in real estate private equity capital on behalf of some of the nation’s leading university endowments and foundations.  Rob’s focus over his tenure with JBG has been the acquisition, financing and disposition of JBG investments, the conception of a development plans for JBG properties and the asset management and fund-raising processes.  Rob is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and is the Chairman of the firm’s Investment and Design Review Committees.

    Rob’s charitable interests have been focused on the provision of affordable housing in DC, childhood education in DC and in investing in businesses that serve the poor in the developing world.  He is a past board member for the New Community for Children, a long-time partner with Manna (a DC affordable housing group), co-chair of a significant five year fund-raising event for the Nation’s Children’s Hospital and a member of the Advisory Council for Acumen.

    He received a B.A. from Princeton University, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

    Stuart Davidson has been working with and investing in early stage companies for over 20 years. He is a managing director of Labrador Ventures and a founder of Sonen Capital, an asset management firm. Prior to Labrador, Mr. Davidson was CEO and founder of Combion, Inc., which was acquired by Incyte Genomics (INCY) and President of Alkermes, Inc. (ALKS), a biopharmaceutical company. Previously, Mr. Davidson worked for MCI Communications and for Warner Communications, where he was engaged in the development of businesses in electronic messaging, data networking and interactive cable TV. Mr. Davidson is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. In addition to his board membership at Acumen Fund, he is a Trustee of Woodcock Foundation, Vice Chair of REDF and Board Chair of IDEO.org.
