Chris Maranga

Chris leads Acumen’s work in East Africa, driving the local investing strategy, the leadership development work in Acumen Academy, and partnership development.

Before Acumen, Chris worked at the Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), where he led the Sustainable Food Systems team in Africa and supported the Green Infrastructure Team in East Africa. His career began in accounting and audit with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, before moving to investment banking at First Africa, a Standard Chartered subsidiary, and later Standard and Mutual, an advisor on the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

At First Africa, he led transactions in debt, equity, and mergers and acquisitions across Africa and the UK. At Standard and Mutual, he held leadership roles at Medbook and AGIL, raising funds and providing strategic guidance.

Chris brings to Acumen extensive experience in investment, fundraising, and operational management.
