Dr. Mercy Tembon

Mercy Tembon is a globally recognized leader with over 30 years of experience across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. She brings deep expertise in international development finance, education, and economic empowerment, with a proven record of driving transformative change.
At the World Bank Group, she served as Vice President & Corporate Secretary, Regional Director, and Country Manager, overseeing operations worth more than $15 billion and leading teams of over 260 professionals across 55 active projects.
Respected for translating research into policy and forging partnerships that deliver measurable impact, Dr. Tembon is also a passionate advocate for education. She founded the Parents’ National Education Union Nursery and Primary School in Cameroon, where she remains a Lifetime Board Member.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics of Education from the University of London, an MBA from Strayer University, a master’s in education from the University of Liverpool, and a B.Sc. from the University of Yaoundé. She has also completed executive programs at Harvard, Wharton, and Oxford.
Fluent in English and French, Dr. Tembon continues to mentor and advise leaders worldwide, bringing strategic insight and cross-cultural perspective to institutions advancing sustainable development.
