The challenge
Low-income women face higher unintended pregnancy rates and reduced access to care. Programs like Title X, serving low-income and women of color, reach just four million women annually, with 41% served by Planned Parenthood centers. They also lack access to high-quality healthcare services and culturally-competent providers. Health plans, eager to improve outcomes for this demographic, encounter engagement challenges, including determining pregnancies late in gestation or when women present at emergency rooms.
The innovation
Twentyeight Health is a digital health platform that provides telemedicine and medication delivery for women in underserved communities. Covering women’s healthcare needs across all life stages, starting with contraception, Twentyeight Health has established a trusted direct-to-consumer digital health platform. Twentyeight Health builds trusted relationships and delivers culturally-competent care by partnering with organizations that serve and understand these communities. It also provides women’s and reproductive health education, offering valuable data and engagement to Medicaid plans.
