Xaira has over 15 years of experience in the social impact sector and is passionate about bridging the gap between capital and transformational ideas that solve problems impacting low-income communities. She joined Acumen in 2017, where she leverages her skills and expertise in partnership development, fundraising strategy, relationship building, and program management to advance our mission and vision.

Xaira’s career began her career as a political campaign fundraiser, which led her to develop funding strategies for improving social services, defending women’s reproductive freedoms, and building programs that help social entrepreneurs close wealth gaps in the United States.

She also served two terms as a Trustee for the Village of Pelham, NY, where she focused on improving community engagement. She currently serves on the board of Fundacion Borincana, an organization building Puerto Rico’s capacity to develop a modern, resilient, and sustainable energy infrastructure. She is also a venture mentor for the Common Future Accelerator, where she supports social entrepreneurs on their path to growth.

Xaira holds an MPA from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, as well as a B.A. in International Relations. ,
