Mónica is a Senior Associate at Acumen Academy, leading the strategy, operations, and delivery of a program for rural and community-based leaders. With a decade of experience in education and leadership development, she ensures the program delivers high-impact learning experiences that empower leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities.
She began her journey in social impact as an English teacher in Bogotá through Teach for Colombia’s Leadership program and later spent six years as a Teacher Trainer, designing and leading programs focused on pedagogy, collective leadership, social justice, and peacebuilding.
With extensive expertise in curriculum design and adult development, Mónica excels at creating evidence-based, rigorous learning experiences that strengthen leadership, soft skills, and community impact. Her professional interests include adult education, leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and systemic improvements in education.
Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new destinations and immersing herself in local cultures, discovering new flavors and traditions. She also loves reading widely and expressing her creativity through painting and knitting. She cherishes creating meaningful moments with family and friends.
