We are thrilled to announce Andrea Soros Colombel’s return to Acumen’s Board of Directors. Andrea played an integral role in the development of Acumen as a Founding Partner in 2001, then deepening her commitment by serving on the Board from 2005 to 2014. During that time, she helped shepherd a number of major projects at Acumen, including the inception of our portfolio of off-grid energy companies. Andrea has returned to the Board after three years and we welcome her thoughtful leadership and generous support.
“Andrea has been an incredible partner in our journey to build Acumen and create a world based on dignity,” said Jacqueline Novogratz, Founder and CEO of Acumen. “Even in our earliest days, she believed in our vision and her support and accompaniment throughout these years have been instrumental to our growth. We are grateful for her continued commitment to our partnership.”
Andrea is the Founder and President of Trace Foundation, which supports the continuity, development and vitality of Tibetan communities, with a focus on those within China. She is also a member of the global board of Open Society Foundations, which works to build vibrant and tolerant democracies worldwide.
In addition, Andrea is a co-founder and trustee of Tsadra Foundation, which promotes authentic understanding of Tibetan wisdom traditions in the West. She also serves on the board of the French American School of New York and is an advisor to Scenic Hudson and the Bard MBA program. Andrea received her BA from the University of Chicago with honors in literature and holds a graduate certificate from the Bard Center for Environmental Policy.
