Acumen welcomes Alexandra Gordon as new Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

New CMO joins Acumen to drive forward mission of changing the way the world tackles poverty

NEW YORKAcumen, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to tackling poverty and driving social change, is delighted to announce the appointment of Alexandra Gordon as its new Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. 

Prior to joining Acumen, Gordon served as President and Partner at Matter Unlimited, an award-winning social impact consultancy operating at the intersection of culture, capital, and cause. Under Gordon’s leadership, Matter Unlimited achieved notable recognition, including Emmy Awards nominations and accolades at The Cannes Lions Festival and The Anthem Awards. Through her work, she participated in global gatherings highlighting the power of narrative building in driving systems change, including the United Nations where she spoke on the vital role of storytelling in the fight to end maternal mortality. Gordon has spearheaded transformative projects in collaboration with some of the world’s most respected foundations, nonprofits, and brands, including The Obama Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, Nike, Merck for Mothers, and Omidyar Network. Her commitment to building movements extends to her role as President of the Board for The 49%, a media company reframing the dialogue around women’s rights through film, advocacy, education, and community.

In her new role at Acumen, Gordon will be responsible for leading an in-house team of strategists, writers, designers, data practitioners, and makers to guide and activate Acumen’s brand voice in meaningful ways.
