The challenge

Nigeria faces a convergence of two urgent challenges: high youth unemployment and limited access to reliable electricity. While the country’s solar sector is expanding rapidly, many companies struggle to scale installations due to a shortage of trained technicians. At the same time, thousands of young Nigerians with technical skills lack clear pathways to stable, dignified employment.

The Innovation

Instollar is a digital B2B gig marketplace that connects solar companies with vetted technicians for installation, maintenance, and training services. Through its platform, companies can match with skilled technicians based on location and expertise while tracking project progress and payments in real time. Instollar also offers training and certification programs, building a pipeline of qualified workers to support Nigeria’s growing renewable energy sector.

The Impact

Instollar has registered more than 1,400 technicians and facilitated over 2,000 solar installations across Nigeria. According to a recent study, 81% of technicians on the platform report increased income, with many citing meaningful improvements in quality of life. By expanding its technician network and training programs, including targeted efforts to train women in solar installation, Instollar aims to create thousands of new income opportunities while enabling wider access to clean energy.
