Adel Baba-Aissa

Investment Director
- London
Adel is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales and an Attorney at Law in New York. He completed his legal education at the London School of Economics (LSE) and began his career at a leading international law firm in London and Paris; where he specialised in international project finance transactions during the emergence of the first wave of large-scale renewable energy projects in Europe.
After five years as a lawyer, Adel decided to pursue his growing passion for development and renewable energy by joining RnE, a small British solar developer. He was tasked with setting up the business in the Middle East and Africa and led the development efforts for over seven years, focusing on both on-grid and off-grid renewable energy projects, across six different jurisdictions.
At Meridiam, a prominent infrastructure investor in Africa, Adel broadened his experience to include the development and financing of transport, mobility, and social infrastructure projects in West Africa where he was based for two years. He was also Chairman of the Board of Meridiam’s solar off-grid platform (NOA) and spearheaded over €10m of investments in SHS and mini-grids projects in Benin, Uganda, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.
Adel brings nearly 15 years of experience in renewable energy and infrastructure transactions. His expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from origination and development to structuring, negotiation, financing, construction, and operational management of projects.
