Chris Emmott

As Director of Energy, Chris shapes Acumen’s energy strategy and narrative, connecting investment outcomes to broader systems change across energy access, e-mobility, clean cooking, and productive use.

He leads Acumen’s energy influence and insights strategy, working closely with country teams, Acumen Capital Partners, and the Hardest-to-Reach platform to strengthen underwriting discipline, align investment theses, and drive portfolio coherence across the capital spectrum.

Chris has spent his career advancing inclusive energy markets across Africa and India, spanning distributed energy, digital finance, and off-grid solar. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Edinburgh.
