Jiwoo Choi joined Acumen in March 2022 as our new Chief of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Jiwoo leads Acumen’s energy initiative, Hardest-to-Reach (“H2R”), which aims to bring access to energy to the 215 million people in Africa who live in the hardest-to-reach markets by 2030.

Jiwoo comes to Acumen most recently from Shinhan Bank where she was the Chief Risk and Sustainability Officer for the EMEA Region. Prior to her role at Shinhan Bank, Jiwoo was Director a.i. of the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) private-sector facility supervising private-sector climate finance.

Jiwoo has more than 20 years of experience in climate finance and a wide range of conventional finance roles, including serving as the Chief Risk Officer for Dubai Green Fund and multiple assignments at Standard & Poor’s Asia Pacific Region. Jiwoo holds an MBA from INSEAD (France) and Tsinghua University (China).
