Maria Juliana Cárdenas

Maria Juliana works as Legal Associate with the LATAM team, and her work includes support to the portfolio team across jurisdictions in deal structuring, deal negotiation, and deal management for equity, debt, and convertible debt investment instruments. Prior to joining Acumen Maria was an associate lawyer at a boutique legal and financial consulting firm in Colombia where she represented start-ups and emerging companies, structuring, and negotiating deals, investment agreements, private financings, and M&A.

Maria has also worked as a research assistant for Corporate and Finance law matters, studying the responsibility and regulation of financial institutions and a comparative study on the regulation of crowdfunding in the UK, USA, France, Mexico, and Colombia. In 2013, Maria spent one year in Paris, France studying French public Law at the Panthèon-Assas University.

Maria Juliana holds a master’s degree in Law and Finance (MLF) from the University of Oxford, and a Law degree from the Externado University of Colombia.
