Virgilio Barco

Virgilio is Latin America Director for Acumen where he is responsible for all operations in the region. He is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner at ALIVE (Acumen Latam Impact Ventures), a leading impact fund manager in Latin America. Previously he held positions in the private sector (Citibank, Booz Allen Hamilton), public sector (Colombian Ministry of Finance and Bogota Planning Department) and non-profit sector (Invest in Bogota and Social Investment Bank). He is the co-founder of Colombia Diversa, a leading LGBTQI+ human rights organization in Colombia. He holds a BA from Harvard College, an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and an MA in Economics from NYU.
