Post-conflict

Teacher explains math problem on a white board to child in rural Colombia

In the wake of Colombia’s 50-year armed conflict, Acumen Latin America is building a network of entrepreneurs, Fellows, and Partners working together to support the country’s transition to peace.

Investing in rural Colombia

Patient Capital generates conditions for long-lasting peace in areas heavily affected by violence.

Grassroots community associations strengthen the social fabric of rural areas in Colombia. We invest in these communities, generating a positive impact on economic livelihoods and quality of life.

Economic opportunities and access to clean energy and education are crucial in rural areas. For non-interconnected areas, we invest in solar power, workforce development, and social and emotional learning.

Discrimination and cultural practices reduce economic opportunity and autonomy for women. We intentionally avoid perpetuating barriers resulting in the exclusion of women, generating equal access throughout Colombia.

Climate change disproportionately affects low-income populations – small producers, micro-entrepreneurs – who are often most vulnerable. We invest in equitable supply chains that generate greater value and income stability for thems so that they can adapt and recover from natural disasters.

Don’t just take our word for it.

The proof is in the progress. From Vichada to Tumaco, Colombian companies are strengthening the social fabric of rural communities.
