Fahima Zein

Ms. Fahima Zein possesses over 28 years’ experience in investment and fund management as well as business advisory and IT. She is involved in Investment Consultancy and is also a French trained pastry chef.

Ms. Zein worked with GenAfrica Asset Managers Limited (formerly Genesis Kenya Investment Management Ltd) as a Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director where she was involved heavily in managing pension schemes for corporate clients ranging from large multinationals to parastatals.  In addition, during 1990s Ms. Zein worked with KCB trustee and Investment Services and was involved in pension fund administration, investments by scheme funds, management of scheme properties and preparation of actuarial data.

Ms. Zein serves as an independent director in the Boards of Absa Bancassurance Intermediary Limited and Absa Securities Limited – both subsidiaries of Absa Bank Kenya PLC. She chairs the Audit & Risk Committee in both entities. Ms. Zein has clear understanding of Board’s mandate and has demonstrated exceptional skills on matters relating to insurance and bancassurance management, people and culture, business administration, corporate governance, communication and leadership. 

She has been active in the asset management industry, having been a founding member and first Vice President of the CFA Society of East Africa.  She was also part of the industry team that drafted the 10 year Capital Markets Authority Strategy Plan.

Ms. Zein is a graduate of University of Greenwich (UK) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Computing.  She also possesses an Executive MBA from Strathmore Business School and attained her CFA Charter in 2006. She also holds an IMIS Graduate Diploma.
